    LUV9101: Intro to Proposals

Welcome, class, to the 1st lesson for LUV9101: Intro to Proposals. We shall briefly touch on a few chapters on how to go about planning and executing, well, your proposal.

    1. Find a wife.
You have to find a wife, your life-long partner. Please note that it is "wife", and not "girlfriends". You can have many girlfriends but one wife, or many wives and one girlfriend, just not in Singapore. Date her for a period of time, which you think is enough... eg: 9 years.

    2. Find a buddy friend.
I think it is quite important to find a friend to execute your silly proposal ideas with a buddy, so as to lend you some strength on the important day, when you might be nervous... He will also be the guy that helps ensure things run smoothly on that day. For this case study, the buddy friend is "HH".

    3. Find a ring.
Please make sure that you get a proposal ring (= must have diamond) in advance. You have to decide which aspect is more important to you, namely: size (aka. carat), quality (aka. clarity and colour) and of course, price! Also make sure that you get a ring size that fits, then up one size (you'd rather it fits on that day itself, than get stuck mid-way... very anti-climax). Not to worry if it is too big, because you can always resize it, free of charge. Be very worried if it is too small, or pray that your wife-to-be is an understanding woman that believes it is the thought that counts.

    4. Choose a site.
Depending on what ideas you have, choose a site accordingly. For this case study, the site chosen was Henderson Waves, the newly constructed iconic bridge that is part of the Southern Ridges. Always go on a reccee in advance to make sure you find the exact spot. Take some photos for later references, eg: below.

    5. Formulate an Idea.
For this case study, the proposer has decided to buy 210 cylum sticks (aka. light sticks), to line up a message visible from the bridge. It is an advantage if you know photoshop, so then you can convey the idea easily to your buddy, aka, "HH". For this case study, the message reads "Chet, Will you marry me? KG".

    6. On that day itself...
Buy the cylum sticks, from a reliable source (eg: Army Market, Beach Road), and head down to site in advance. Of course, remember to indent a rainless day from the Heavens before hand, so that it won't wet your spirits if there are no wet-weather programmes planned. Once on site, start lining up the words.

Since it is a public location, people on the bridge will start noticing and crowds might gather. If some ignorant people (their race shall be kept secret) start shouting from the bridge "NO!", just ignore them. Because 1. They are ignorant (as mentioned above).... and 2. They do not know how to read, as the msg is actually, meant for Chet (unless you are telling me your name is "Chet"). Fight all urges to run up and beat up that guy, and remain calm and avoid thinking "What if... she really says... no...?"

It has to be a surprise, so you must date your wife-to-be in advance. Tell her it is just a walk in the park... or a walk in the Southern Ridges, to take in some fresh air~~~! Along the way, keep calm (ie. "chillax", as HH says), and if your wife-to-be insists on taking photos, by all means!

    7. A minute before the surprise unveils itself...
Ignore the crowd ahead that has gathered to kay-poh and wait for the couple (ie. yourself) to arrive. They are just curious and bored creatures... and it is Singapore. Just keep going ahead... and... watch the million dollar reaction on your wife-to-be...! Oh, and remember to present the ring!!!

    8. The surprise itself...
    Pictures self explanatory.

    8. The end.
Thank you for your attention! We will go into details per chapter, upon request.

Thanks HH... for your good sport. You may not be my "top 2", but certainly a friend-in-need.

    Btw, she said "Yes!"

*p.s. to anonymous readers who happen to be present to witness this proposal and took pictures with your pro cameras, kindly send the pictures to the author, who has... being nervous, forgot to bring his own digital camera to capture the moment... -.-"
