    So Wazzup...? Tuesday, August 28, 2007 |

Basically after dissertation 1st draft submission, took a 4 day break which ended today. Activities included eating steam boat with familiar faces, buy toys, watch TMNT... err... think that's about it. Shit. Darn waste of time. Anyway today there is this atelier talk by all the tutors... Quite useful I guess, especially the techniques atelier, cause as they talk about what interests them, I find that my dissertation discussion is really very shallow... Sigh... So, working on it now.

This is becoming more like a toy blog but... my brother now buys quite a number of Gundams, and he is more advance than me now cuz he panel-lines. Below are two of his more recent completions, SD Guan Yu, and MG Zeta gundam. Nice right? I think they rock hard man. It's good that he buys them, fixes them, and ends up in my display cabinet, so I can admire them. Too bad I couldn't convince him to get MG Destiny, which is scheduled for release in October. Darn! But of course I help him take photos and make into wallpapers. Don't ask me why he insist on using the Vista wallaper as the background... Sigh... but Zeta is damn chio.

TMNT is a nice movie which everyone should catch. It's a remake of the cartoon from the 80s. The person who first mixed a japanese ninja with a turtle must be crazy man, but who would've thought it would be such a hit then. Even this remake movie rox. Character style reminds me alot of the Incredibles. But the fight scene... Man... Raphael vs Leonardo was the best fighting sequence man. But I must say I hated the new Splinter. The old one is better! Maybe cause I'm old school... but if you keep the way the turtles look, I don't understand why you should change Splinter's...

Also bought Spider-woman action figure. New Avengers almost complete... Minus Astonishing Wolverine and the Sentry... Which... I think slowly lah ya? Below is a photoshop of Thor vs Destroyer. Pretty cool action figures themselves too!

Sunday was quite an enjoyable day... We went to Cineleisure in the morning and got tickets to Secret, or 不能说的秘密, the movie Jay Chou directed and acted in... It's a pretty touching story, a concoction of Sixth Sense and ilmare I guess. Woops, have I given too much away? I thought it was pretty well done. At first I thought it was just the usual boy-fell-in-love-with-sick-girl movies, but was caught by the twist.

Before the movie we went to Crystal Jade Ramen + Xiao Long Bao~ in Taka. After the movie we went to this Hong Kong eatery called Central. Chet and I agree that we won't visit the restaurant again. The one we went to was in Ngee Ann City lvl B2. The service was bad, certainly not worth the 10% we paid for. First, took a long time to grab the waitresses' attention to make an order. Then while making the order, she stared at me (like those side glances... i mean scheming side glances... wait a minute... it's those scheming side glances almost like an evil glare from slit like eyes of Voldemort!!!). An auntie waitress thinks she is some big boss mama-san and throws the menu on to empty tables that new customers are walking towards... So... I would rather go to Toast Box for the same (or likely better) food! At least, I'm certain I'd be greeted by a smile...

It was nice to see more familiar faces today at 5421 lecture... I mean... after the lecture. Went to the new arts canteen and visited the air-con room upstairs where BK, Lerk Thai and Olio were housed, and where there is this paranomic view of... well if you see far enough... the sea. Listened with fascination to more WOW stuff, but we were pretty much bothered by Friday. Yes... 1st draft. Wah... sianz... But I guess I've procrastinated long enough. Later must continue writing le.

Looking forward to Saturday... to more familiar faces :)

    A Day to Remember...! Saturday, August 11, 2007 |

I'm glad I was among the thousands of people who were in Padang this afternoon for NUS Rag and Flag day 2007, to witness history in the making. Sheares Hall won numerous shields and certificates including Best Float Design, Best Float Presentation, Most Outstanding Progress in Flag, etc. Most importantly, the Chancellor Shield is ours!!! Check out the pics! Err... normal digital camera lah haha... not SLR :) but it was pretty handy! Pls click on photos to view enlarged version.

So hot... the 6 of us were under the protection of our umbrellas... Heh... We went prepared! Below are the rags by Kent Ridge, Raffles, Eusoff, KE7 and Temasek halls respectively. Their performances were pretty good. I particularly enjoyed KE7's... very innocent. They won the most creative presentation. Not forgetting Eusoff's cool land rover that came out from the rag.

And then... the Champion rolls in...

After a wonderful performance, we went to Raffles City for some aircon... Faculty rags are very forgettable, based on past experience... So why torture ourselves in the sun. At 6pm we were gathered at the grand stand eagerly waiting for the results to be announced.

... all except Aaron who, of course, chose to sit with the girls :) Aaron~~~ Aaron~~~

We weren't with the main crowd but were on their back... Hence all the back shots. But Master G sure was a happy man today, as were all the Shearites present. Didn't forget to do the anthem... Heh.

Music and Lyrics Friday, August 10, 2007 |

Managed to catch a wonderful movie yesterday. Music and Lyrics. Got chance must go and watch. Heartwarming, and very enjoyable. Not to mention a pretty good interesting soundtrack, including "Way back into Love" and "Pop! Goes my Heart", as Youtube-ed below. Enjoy the cheesy 80s MTV, starring Hugh Grant. They really captured the 80s dancing and singing styles spot on! Anyway, this Youtube doesn't really show the actual MTV shown in the movie, but there are some cut scenes that are accurate. Check out the movie k...? Heh.

    Sigh... Wednesday, August 01, 2007 |

Some accident happened during reservist... well sorta. Probably cause the last time I exercised was also during reservist, i kinda braked too hard after shuttle run. Left toe took the impact and immediately I could see blood underneath, and there was swelling. Thought it wasn't too serious, so still completed 2.4, followed by the 2D1N outfield in the forest. But by the last day the pain was quite unbearable and I was limping already...

Once the vehicle is washed, I returned to bunk... removed my boots and tadah!!! One swollen toe, 1.5x thicker than my right one. Went to see the doctor the next day, and he sorta relieved the pain. How'd he do it? Used a size 20 needle, use a lighter, heat it up to red hot, screwed it into my nail until a hole was punctured, and squeezed wateva liquid was underneath it. Wasn't blood, but some reddish yellowish substance... damn painful man, and that was Friday.

Last night the nail came off... I was itchy handed lah, minor bleeding, but happy that the nail was kept as a whole (can keep for memory sake!)! The skin underneath it is very tender... Eh... nothing like wat Mr San encountered in Delft, but here are some pics...!

K that's it about my toe... not really an issue. Went for my driving lessons as usual today, could handle it. Bet most of us are working hard on our dissertation by now, all except me, still very slack. In fact, I slacked the whole day away today, after driving, lunch, read some crappy Spider-man, slept until 7pm... Nice!! Think I'm going to start work proper tomorrow... It's an auspicious hour thing... to start work in the morning. Still hoping to get 2 interviews done, and compile everything. Hope it's not going to take too long.

According to Prof Tse, how Masters is going to be conducted will be decided in a meeting next week. Stay tuned for e-mails I guess... Oh, and Jasmine has left office for good. Sigh, I do think she is the friendliest and helpful staff in aki.

Chet's being away sucks. Friday come quick!!
