We got our bikes today. All 2nd hand but still functions fine. Mine was 80 Euros, with a bag behind for 12.50 Euros and a bell in front for 2.5 Euros. But this won't be the total price I fork out as we will be selling them all again before we leave. The building behind is none other than TU Delft's famous library: a grass sloping roof gently rising from the ground and glassed on both sides, topped by a concrete and glass cone sky light. Magnificent!

Over tha past few days, we went exploring around the city centre: old Delft. It is characterized by its red brick flooring meant for pedestrians and bicycles, flanked by nice old masonry shophouses (shops below, reseidences on top). Another nice thing about the town is its numerous waterways and canals with floating restaurants, tour boats, ducks and swans. Some parts of the water are so overgrown with algae that at first sight, they look like a strip of green turf! Check out the pics below:

My companions in Delft: Craig ("Mr San"), Elita ("Elitata"), Ju ("The Player") and Zongye (err... "Mafia boss?"). We've been convoying on our bikes pretty frequent in the city centre so we are officially known as "that bunch of Ching boys and that girl" amongst the Delft local, according to Mikhil, the housing agent.

The town central, like most old European towns, revolve around the church. Here we have the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church, if directly translated) built across centuries since the 14th century. It's very tall and overlooks a market square where a weekly bazaar is held, selling cheap stuff ranging from fresh flowers to clothes to bicycle parts: almost everything you will need!
