    Quick update...! Monday, June 09, 2008 |

Something interesting happened today. By "interesting" I mean some strange encounter that is unexpected and out of the normal routine. Went to Suntec to pick up a Chun-Li action figure (we'll get to that later), then to the library (been pretty lucky lately at getting new graphic novels -not comics- even though it is double-your-borrowing-capacity holiday period and the shelves are more empty than usual), then boarded 133 to go home.

While I was waiting at the pedestrian crossing right outside my house, a primary school boy on his little bmx came cycling towards me head-on. He was sweating (i know it shd be perspiring, but... in this case it was sweating) all over with a worried look on his face. He jammed his brakes right in front of me and asked, "Excuse me, do you know where Potong Pasir is?"

Obviously he was lost and panicky. But sorry to say, it isn't really near Potong Pasir and I recommended him to take the train (which he can't of course), or a cab. "But I got no money, can you help me?" *blink blink.

In my mind I was thinking... ah hell... how am I supposed to help you...? I can help you hail a cab, tell the cabby where you're heading, help you load up your bmx into the trunk... and... give you money. Give you money. Give you money? Give you money... Sigh.

So that's exactly what I did, and I lost a red note that way today... my only one... in my little stash of purple notes... my only red note... Grrr... On hindsight I should've taken out my nokia, ask him to dial home, and have his family member waiting with cash right where he'll alight to pay the cabby. WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT THEN? Was I too eager to help? Of course not... I asked myself 4 times before pulling that note out.

Why... didn't... I... think... of... that???

So what's been going on in my life... Exam results are out... Did fairly well considering how things took a dip towards submission, couldn't ask for more. Job hunting, hmmm... I went to three companies and settled on one of them. Impressed by all of them I must say, but one stood out. Gonna start work on 1 July. Heh, quite late... Considering how CW started shortly after the crits, YQ started early June, and ah matt begins his new chapter in life today.

zelevol: "Today ah matt first day of work right?"

kyq: "ya and soon he'll be the director"

    zelevol: "Yay!"

Personally I've been hearing how tough it might get to give yourself a break or a holiday after work starts hence I pushed it a month back. In this 4wks (1 already passed) I was supposed to do the things I like (toy hunting! toy photography!) and more. First I really must learn AutoCAD. I'll get started on that. Masters of Architect dunno how to use AutoCAD? Win... Just... how did I pull it off...? Oh well...

Second is I want to take part in one final competition using my thesis project:
Eco-friend by Hunter Douglas. It is a competition open to all SIA members (so students also can), and doesn't have to be built work. Just nice, the topic is on sustainable materials... If win the $5000, it is treat time again!!! So, wish that I win k...? Or rather wish that I don't procrastinate too much until didn't submit (closing date 1 July... Hey, that date's kinda familiar)...

What else... Oh, going over to Chet's place in Penang coming Wednesday for four days. Ney (her younger sis) will join us too. I haven't met Chet's 2 younger brothers... Her parents I've met once when they came over for Chet's convo. So... after 9 years of dating, this is the 2nd time they are going to meet me. Haiz... Hence my msn nick: 我怕怕, cause I'm kinda worried I will get terrorized there by the siblings, or become some museum artifact amongst her relatives. Looking forward to meeting them of course, as well as the nice Penang food that I've heard about all too often thks to Chet. Will report on how things turn out when I return in one piece :)

Also want to use the time to catch up with friends... Speaking of which, went to CM's house again with the same bunch of friends to play Wii... While the clip below is from the previous time that we were there, we basically did the same thing lah... Clip was taken while we were playing Raving Rabbits :) Kinda funny looking at 'em waving the nun-chucks around -.-" We also played Mario Kart and American Idol... Err... you can hear a clip that I, Ninja-Kho, stealthily recorded behind Yonghui's back while he was singing. PRETTY DARN GOOD RIGHT? Heh...

From left to right: WY (YH's girlfriend!), YQ, CM, YH, YS, Matt, KG. Below: YH singing Aerosmith's Don't Wanna Miss a Thing!

Over this month I would also like to readjust my lifestyle a bit before work starts, ie. sleep earlier, wake earlier, no after lunch naps, and of course, try to keep fit. On keeping fit, we (together w/ Chet and her housemates) went for the 5km PAssion run fun run category yesterday morning. We didnt' stop running okay... which is why I can't descend a normal flight of staircase without a grimace on my face; muscle ache like mad! I cannot remember the last time I ran (I think was during IPPT last ICT last year), and never trained for this 5km. Finishing in 35 minutes ain't too shabby lah... -.-"

That's about it... Going to take some photographs of toys later, and do a short review here... Anything else...? Oh, no further news from Kotobukiya Japan... Sigh... Quite disheartening. If things are too good to be true, well, they usually are I suppose. Nevertheless, I won't stop pursueing my hobby because of this... Still hope that dream will come true soon.

Oh, yea... Recently saw Street Fighter IV trailer (please click URL and knock yourself out at the trailers under the Gallery tab), and entered a Street Fighter craze. Dug out some old SF action figures to photoshoot, and also trying to complete the original 12 characters (+2, Cammy and Akuma, because they are both hot!).

    Narnia... Monday, June 02, 2008 |

It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder
'Til it was a battle cry
    I'll come back
    When you call me
    No need to say goodbye

    Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never been this way before
All you can do is try to know who your friends are
As you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon
    And follow the light
You'll come back when it's over
    No need to say goodbye
You'll come back when it's over
    No need to say goodbye

Now we're back to the beginning
It's just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can't feel it too
Doesn't mean that you have to forget

Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
    'Til they're before your eyes
    You'll come back
    When they call you
    No need to say goodbye

    You'll come back
    When they call you
    No need to say goodbye
